SA2-AR Active Reading: Webpage Basics

Instructions

Following the usual Active Reading (AR) Instructions, carefully read and perform the steps in each of the following Demos-n-Deets demos:

• Webpages
• Root Routes
• Images
• Internal Links

Important Things to Remember

• Perform all the steps.
• Think deeply and make sure you understand each step.
• Name screenshots with the exact names specified.

How to Start Each Demo

1. cd into your workspace folder.
2. Find the “Base App Code Branch” link in the demo webpage.
3. git clone the base app repo, giving it a custom name, like sa1-ar-model-classes.
4. cd into the new working directory.
5. git switch to the base app branch specified in the demo.
6. Open the working directory in VS Code, bundle install/rails db:migrate && rails db:seed, and begin the demo.

What to Submit

• Webpages Demo Screenshot:
  • sa2-ar-01: The completed web page running in your web browser.
• Root Routes Demo Screenshots:
  • sa2-ar-02: The resulting routes.rb file in VS Code.
  • sa2-ar-03: The last server request log in the console after you enter http://localhost:3000 into the browser’s location bar. It should begin with Started GET "/".
• Images Demo Screenshot:
  • sa2-ar-04: The completed web page running in your web browser.
• Internal Links Demo Screenshots:
  • sa2-ar-05: The link code in the HTML.ERB view file in VS Code.
  • sa2-ar-06: The browser with the page that displays the link.

Important! All screenshots must include your computer’s desktop in the background so that it is recognizable as your desktop. Also, all screenshots of web pages must display the entire URL of the page in the browser’s location bar. (Watch out, as some browsers like to hide parts of the URL unless you click on it.)
